OVERVIEW

In this collaborative project, our team undertook the redesign of the website for "Cerería Subirà," a renowned candle shop and a beloved landmark in the heart of Barcelona. With its rich history and artisanal heritage, the shop attracts both locals and tourists seeking high-quality, handcrafted candles. The aim of this redesign was to enhance the online presence of Cerería Subirà, improving user experience and accessibility while preserving its traditional charm.

OBJECTIVE

Our principal objective is to preserve the authenticity that defines the experience at the physical environment of Cerería Subirà, with a special emphasis on revitalizing this experience to vibrantly adapt to contemporary dynamics.

MY ROLE

In this group project, we all actively participated in the research phase, gathering essential insights to inform our design decisions. For the design phase, we divided responsibilities to leverage our individual strengths. My specific role was to define the UI design for the entire website. This involved creating a cohesive visual language and ensuring consistency across all pages and elements. By establishing uniform color schemes, typography, iconography, and overall visual style, I aimed to create a seamless and unified user experience that reflects the traditional charm and contemporary vibrancy of Cerería Subirá.

RESEARCH PHASE

  • Desk Research: involved gathering existing information from various sources such as online articles, market reports, and academic journals. This helped us understand the broader market context, industry standards, and historical data relevant to Cerería Subirà and the candle market in Barcelona.

  • SWOT Analysis:

  • Benchmarking: involved comparing Cerería Subirá’s website and business practices with those of leading competitors and industry leaders. This process highlighted best practices, innovative features, and areas where Cerería Subirá could differentiate itself to gain a competitive edge.

  • Contextual Observation:

  • Surveys and Interviews with Users: After conducting interviews and surveys with users, we gathered these insights which we worked on for the redesign

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

WIREFRAMES

Conócenos

In the "Conócenos" section, we aim to present the history of the place in an attractive and dynamic way. To achieve this, we use typographic hierarchies and select various eye-catching images related to candles. Additionally, we incorporate physical elements from the store, such as statues and the black-and-white checkered floor.

Talleres

In the “Talleres” section, we decided to create a section where users can choose the workshop they want through a more personalized search engine, or they can explore the available workshops and select the one that interests them the most. On the information page of each workshop, users will find images and relevant information about what the workshop entails, and they can book it through a pop-up calendar.

Crea tu vela

In the "Crea tu Vela" section, we decided to offer two options: large and small. After the user chooses the candle size, we redirect them to a page where they can customize their candle. We opted to implement an accordion that allows organizing multiple elements and facilitates the user to go back in case they want to make any changes to their previous selection. Once they finish customizing their candle, they will be taken to another page with a summary of what they have chosen.

UI KIT

We created a UI kit with all the visual elements of the website such as colors, fonts, components, microinteractions, etc. By selecting the following button, you will be able to view the complete UI kit from Figma.
